Wearnes to significantly expand pre-owned retail business with new Automotive Centre
Wearnes Automotive Pte. Ltd. (“Wearnes”), a leading pan-Asian luxury and premium automotive distributor and a member of the StarChase group of companies, today announced that construction of a new eight-storey Automotive Centre is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2019. Totalling over 200,000 square feet, the building will be located at the prime automotive belt, alongside Wearnes’ existing showrooms at 45 Leng Kee Road, and is slated to include workshops, boutique car displays, conference facilities and exclusive club lounges, designed for a panoramic view of rare and vintage cars showcased within its new climate-controlled bonded storage areas.
Future Proofing to Meet Growth and Demand
Wearnes recently celebrated 112 years of rich heritage and service excellence. It has seen its business continue to thrive in Singapore and with the expansive new tower, it will double its service capacity and looks set to be a hub in Asia for rare and vintage car collectors.
Wearnes CEO, Andre Roy said, “The new Automotive Centre is poised to be a distinctive landmark amid the prestigious automotive belt along Leng Kee Road. Importantly, it is also symbolic of Wearnes’ strong leadership position in the premium and luxury car segments in Singapore. We are excited to be significantly expanding our pre-owned retail business, with an entire floor dedicated to a new multi-brand, luxury automotive retail centre. Additionally, the five new car display areas will allow us to add new automotive marques to our portfolio over the next few years along the prime Leng Kee area."
Destination for Car Collectors in Asia
One unique feature of the eight-storey tower is a state-of-the-art, climate-controlled gallery with bonded facilities – the first of its kind of this size in Singapore that allows high-end luxury car collectors to store their rare, limited edition and classic cars in an exclusive and secure environment. Located on the top floor, the gallery will be integrated with a club lounge that features conferencing and meeting facilities and is designated to be Wearnes' main meeting area. Overlooking the interior of the building’s conference facilities, the car storage solution will cater to increasing regional demand.
“The vision of this car storage and gallery is to create a highly exclusive environment for car collectors looking to enhance, preserve and protect their investments. We are seeing increasing demand from high-end luxury car buyers in Singapore and the region investing in specialist, limited edition hypercars and classic cars, and have received strong interest from existing clients. The new car storage and gallery has been purpose- built to have optimally-controlled humidity and temperature settings, and we have started accepting reservations for allocations at the car storage facility,” said Andre Roy.
The modern, cutting edge design of Wearnes Automotive’s new eight-storey tower facility is helmed by Erik L’Heureux of Pencil Office, whose design history has won him several accolades including the Wheelwright Prize from Harvard University in 2015. “The design of the expansive new Wearnes tower is inspired by the curvilinear form and intricate detail of luxury passenger marques in their portfolio. Combining form and functionality, the aluminum filigree façade features 13 horizontals of finely spaced diagonals, taking reference from the ‘W’ of the Wearnes logo, weaving across the elevation to shield the building from solar heat gain. The result is a facility built with refinement and precision – a reflection of the long standing history and values of Wearnes Automotive,” said Erik L’Heureux.
